Sarian Bouma founded Capitol Hill Building Maintenance, Inc., after being inspired by her
great love, husband Jon Bouma. Sarian was never quite satisfied as an employee. She had climbed the corporate ladder, and reached the glass ceiling.
Sarian's thirtieth birthday was fast approaching, and as a gift her husband offered her a check to buy the BMW she'd always dreamed of owning. Instead of buying the BMW, Sarian took her check to Maryland's Small Business Development Financing Authority (MSBDFA) and applied for a business loan. Capitol Hill Building Maintenance was born.
Sarian built Capitol Hill Building Maintenance from a small, family-run business to a major conglomerate that now employs more than 200 people and is represented by one of the most powerful law firms in Maryland.
Her greatest accomplishment was winning a contract to clean the offices of
the President of the United States. She and her legal counsel, Scott Livingston, conquered the competitive world of Government contracts.
